Meet the Houston Team Behind Portcullis Gate Repair Houston

We’re a Houston crew, through and through. Some of us grew up in the Heights, others in Katy or Spring Branch, but we all understand the same thing: a gate that won’t open isn’t a minor annoyance when it’s 98 degrees and your car is stuck in the driveway. Portcullis Gate Repair Houston has been fixing gates across this city since 2008, and the people who show up at your property are the same ones who live with Houston’s humidity, Houston’s clay soil, and Houston’s traffic. We know what this climate does to steel, to circuit boards, to actuator arms. That’s the whole point of having a local team.

Our People

Marcus T. – Lead Technician

Marcus has been working on gate systems for 14 years, the last nine of them with Portcullis. He’s our go-to for the electrical side of the trade: limit switches, loop detectors, photo eyes, and the wiring that connects them. LiftMaster, FAAC, BFT, Linear, Viking, Ghost Controls, DoorKing, Elite, Mighty Mule – Marcus has run service calls on all nine brands we support, and he can usually diagnose a board failure before the multimeter even comes out of the truck. He holds factory training certifications from three major operator manufacturers. Off the clock, he rebuilds old motorcycles in his garage in Cypress and claims the wiring harness on a 1982 Honda is harder to sort out than any gate panel he’s ever opened.

Rosa M. – Senior Installer

Rosa has spent a decade installing and servicing gates across the Houston metro, from Montrose to Sugar Land to Pasadena. She’s the person you want on a new gate installation: she measures three times, welds clean, and doesn’t leave until the gate swings smooth and the operator cycle-tests without a hiccup. Her specialty is swing gates on sloped driveways, which is a real challenge in neighborhoods built on Houston’s shifting clay. Rosa is certified on hydraulic and electromechanical operators and leads most of our two-person install crews. She keeps a small vegetable garden in her backyard in the East End and will absolutely talk tomatoes with you if the subject comes up while she’s quoting your job.

Danny K. – Service Coordinator

Danny is the voice on the phone when you call Portcullis Gate Repair Houston. He’s been with us for six years and started as an apprentice technician before moving into the office, which means he actually understands what you’re describing when you say “the gate makes a grinding noise near the ground” or “the remote works sometimes but not when it rains.” He schedules every job, builds the dispatch routes, and makes sure the technician arriving at your property has the right parts and the right information before they leave the shop. Danny lives in Oak Forest with two rescue dogs and an encyclopedic knowledge of Houston barbecue joints. If you need a lunch recommendation while you’re waiting for your service window, he’s got opinions.

Elijah B. – Apprentice Technician

Elijah joined our crew two years ago after completing a technical program in electrical systems. He rides with Marcus on most service calls, handling the physical side of the job, the safety checks, and the parts inventory while he learns the diagnostic side of the trade. He’s already earned his OSHA certification and is working toward factory certification on LiftMaster and FAAC operators. Elijah grew up in Alief and is the youngest member of the team by a wide margin, which the rest of us remind him of constantly. He’s methodical, careful with power tools, and has never once complained about working outside in August, which tells us he’ll be fine in this business.

One Standard, Every Job

Every technician who works under the Portcullis name in Houston is held to the same written standard, no matter which truck pulls up. That standard is the Kingswell Guarantee, and it applies to every repair, every installation, every service call. Here’s what it means in plain words: you get the price in writing before any work starts. The technician shows up in the arrival window we gave you on the phone. The job site is left cleaner than we found it. The repair carries a written guarantee for 365 days. And if that repair fails inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. We don’t get to skip any of it just because it’s a busy Tuesday or the job is on the other side of town. This is how every independently owned Kingswell location operates, and it’s the only way Dean Prescott will run his shop.
